BAM

The Brooklyn Academy of Music located in Brooklyn, New York since its inception in 1861, is America’s oldest performing arts center. For more than 150 years, BAM has been the home for adventurous artists, audiences and ideas engaging both global and local communities. With world renown programming in theater, dance, music, opera, film, literature, visual arts and much more, BAM showcases the work of both emerging artists and innovative modern masters.

The BAM campus includes four separate buildings with theaters ranging from 250-2100 seats in the heart of the Brooklyn Cultural District.

THE DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN
PARTNERSHIP

The Downtown Brooklyn Partnership (“DBP”) is a not for profit local development corporation that serves as an advocate and champion for Downtown Brooklyn as a world-class business, cultural, educational, and retail destination.

The Brooklyn Cultural District (which is closely aligned with the DBP) is a multi-block area near BAM that is the home of nine core institutions plus the Barclays Center. The venues in the core range from 250 seats to 19,000 in the arena. Over 55 additional organizations representing nearly every artistic discipline are right nearby in Downtown Brooklyn.

ONASSIS FOUNDATION

Since 1975, the Onassis Foundation has focused on providing dynamic programs and services in the fields of culture, health, and education. The Foundation’s goal is to create conditions, explore ideas, and trigger discussions that lead to a better society. Releasing the potential of artists, scholars, and scientists, the Foundation has supported Greek programs in universities around the world; it has granted more than 7,000 scholarships and research fellowships for postgraduate and doctorate studies; it has continuously supported Special Education; has acquired the Cavafy Archive to ensure accessibility to researchers and the wider public; has established rare book collections housed in the Onassis Library; has built (and donated to the Greek State), the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Centre (OCSC) and is currently building the much-needed Onassis National Transplant Center in Athens; has established Onassis USA (NY & LA), and last, but not least, has created Onassis Stegi in Athens, a cultural center which hosts performances and activities across the whole spectrum of the arts from theatre, dance, music, cinema and the visual arts to the written word, with an emphasis on contemporary cultural expression.
